FAQ

How long do horses need to board at Stable Rest and Rehab?

For the best outcome for your horse, we recommend that they board for a minimum of 3 months. This allows us to facilitate the healing process of the tendon injury through the acute and regenerative phase, and into the remodeling phase, ensuring that we make the most of those initial healing phases in the tendon. These healing phases are where the tendon is most at risk for re-injury, as the structure is still extremely weak and can be painful. By providing the maximum protection together with active facilitation of cellular healing, we hope to make the best gains in tendon healing. This time period also allows us to fully integrate your horse into a groundwork exercise program that will allow their whole body to remain strong and active, their minds engaged, while at the same time protecting the tendon. This full body training focuses on posture, proprioception, weight distribution and core strength.
